The AHECTA 2017 keynote address Making Waves - Technology and Education at the Crossroads will spotlight how trends and changes in information technologies are reshaping how the University of Notre Dame tells its stories and shares its mission with the global community. By leveraging new investments in media infrastructure and cloud services, the University of Notre Dame is positioning itself as a new, collaborative paradigm in collegiate production, media management and distribution, with an evolving international perspective.

Tom Marentette has been with the University since 1997 in a variety of information technology roles, from network engineering to project management and his present day role as architect of teaching and learning technologies. His current responsibilities include the strategy, planning, and execution of enterprise academic technologies and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) research, design and practice.

Tom has a wealth of experience in engineering and deploying technology and mobile solutions in low and middle income countries, with a focus in the health, education and infrastructure sectors. Tom serves on the Board of Directors of BOSCO, Inc. an NGO working in northern Uganda whose mission is “connecting people and preserving culture”. Tom is a serial volunteer, who regularly offers his technology knowledge and expertise to an assortment of nonprofits and international NGO’s.
